Fine Disregard Wine Co. is the personal project of Mike Schieffer and Kara Maraden. We are a two person effort in the heart of Napa Valley guided by two equally important tenets - seeking out compelling vineyards and practicing a philosophy of minimal intervention in our winemaking. Our humble intention is that the wines we produce are transparent and authentic, speaking undeniably of our home, California.
Mike is the Assistant Winemaker for Turley Wine Cellars in St. Helena, CA. His winemaking is informed by his experience working in Napa Valley, the Libourne and St. Emilion regions of Bordeaux, as well as Australia’s Hunter Valley. In a previous life, he was a slightly above average rugby player who harbored dreams of playing professionally.
Kara is the Director of Viticulture for Foley Family Wines and an alumna of Penn State University where she obtained both her Bachelor’s in Horticulture and Master’s in Plant Pathology. She has farmed vineyards throughout Napa Valley and Sonoma County since moving to California in 2010. Kara is still trying to understand rugby.
If there is one immutable truth in life, it is never do math in public. If there is a second, it is that this is Lucy’s world. We just pay rent.
