Fine Disregard Wine Co. is the personal label of Mike Schieffer and Kara Maraden. Our focus is making bright, fresh wines that truly speak of California. We don’t have famous winemaking consultants, wealthy investors, or a state of the art production facility. We are simply two people committed to making the wines we believe in by seeking out compelling vineyards and practicing a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar. We hope you enjoy them.
Mike is the Assistant Winemaker for Turley Wine Cellars in St. Helena. He’s been making wine in Napa Valley since 2009 and previously worked in the St. Emilion region of Bordeaux and the Hunter Valley in Australia. In another life, his tragic lack of athletic talent was the only thing preventing him from playing rugby professionally.
Kara is the Director of Viticulture for Foley Family Wines and is an alumna of Penn State University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Horticulture and a Master’s in Plant Pathology. Since coming to California in 2010, she’s farmed vineyards throughout Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Kara is still trying to understand rugby.
